CRESSKILL, N.J. (TCD) — A 30-year-old man is facing murder and other charges for allegedly beating and killing his stepmother with a baseball bat last week.
On Aug. 16 at 6:46 p.m., Cresskill Police responded to a home on Stonegate Trail and found a woman deceased from blunt force trauma. NJ.com identified the victim as 48-year-old Irma Daniels and reports her stepson, John Daniels, was arrested for allegedly killing her.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reportedly said in a statement Daniels “struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat before fleeing the residence.”
Irma Daniels was married to John Daniels’ father.
Bergen County Jail records show Daniels was arrested on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, hindering oneself — hiding/suppressing information/evidence, and hindering oneself — giving false information. He’s being held without bond.
Irma Daniels worked as a realty associate at luxury real estate firms Sotheby’s and Christie’s. She was originally from Russia, and on Aug. 15, she posted a video of mountains on Facebook saying she was “going back to my roots.”
She wrote, “The beautiful motherland with breathtaking Caucasian Mountains, ancient culture, heartbreaking history and graceful and noble people. Proud of being Circassian.”
